Anca Metiu

Anca Metiu is a Professor of Management at ESSEC Business School (France), holding roles such as Associate Dean for the PhD program (2015–2021) and Visiting Scholar at Columbia University (2012–2013). She earned her Ph.D. in Management from the Wharton School (2001). Her research focuses on organizational behavior, distributed work dynamics, and the role of communication in virtual teams. Notable contributions include studies on play’s impact on work engagement and group creativity in high-tech settings. She has been recognized with awards such as the 2023 Academy of Management Best International Paper and the 2015 European Research Paper of the Year.

Her research explores themes like virtual proximity, knowledge transfer in global teams, and the sociocultural dimensions of innovation. Recent work emphasizes post-pandemic remote work strategies and ritualization in knowledge exchange. She has published in top journals like Organization Science and Journal of Product Innovation Management, and co-authored The Power of Writing in Organizations (2012). Metiu has advised numerous doctoral theses, including studies on social entrepreneurship, workplace relational identification, and societal resistance in digital contexts.
