Ana Luísa Marques

Ana Luísa Marques is Associate Professor and Head of Design at IADE Faculty of Design, Technology and Communication, Universidade Europeia, where she also coordinates the PhD in Design program. She previously served as Assistant Professor at the same institution from 2017-2024. She is currently conducting post-doctoral research in Portuguese Design History, Theory and Criticism at IADE-UE.

Her educational background includes:

• MA in Art Theory from Universidade de Lisboa (2002-2004)
• Licentiate Degree in Communication Design from Universidade de Lisboa (1996-2002)

Her recent publications (2021-2025) demonstrate strong focus on technology-mediated design solutions, particularly in education and cultural preservation. Key trends include AI-enhanced learning experiences, augmented reality applications for heritage conservation, and inclusive design methodologies. Her scholarly output consistently integrates historical analysis with contemporary technological applications.

She leads significant research projects including:

• Archive IADE project (2020-2024) funded by UNIDCOM/IADE
• Post-doctoral research in Portuguese Design History

Previously received funding for 'Arte, Ciência e História no Livro Português do Século XVIII' from Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (2007-2013).

She has supervised multiple Master's students in Communication Design and Design Practices, focusing on both theoretical and applied design research. As Head of Design, she oversees academic programs and research initiatives at IADE Faculty.
