Ana Carvalho is a PhD candidate and Lecturer in the School of Science at Edith Cowan University (ECU). Her research focuses on fire regimes in the Jarrah Forest ecosystem, utilizing geospatial techniques to analyze fire severity and historical patterns within the Mundaring Drinking Water Catchment. She holds a Bachelor's and Teaching degree in Geography from Universidade Estadual Paulista (Brazil) and additional qualifications in project management.
- Research Interests: Geospatial science, remote sensing, Mediterranean-type forest dynamics, fire ecology, and water resource management.
- Teaching Roles: Unit coordinator, lecturer, and tutor for GIS and Remote Sensing courses at the master’s level, as well as tutor for Professional Science Essentials and Geographic Information Systems at ECU.
Her work includes projects on fire severity analysis using spectral indices (dNBR, dNDVI, etc.), wetland vegetation monitoring, and rainfall erosivity studies in Brazil. Ana has received scholarships from the RTP program and FAPESP, supporting her research on environmental science topics.
