Ana Andreea VARTIRES

Associate Professor Dr. Eng. Ana Andreea VARTIRES is a distinguished faculty member at the Technical University of Construction Bucharest (UTCB), Faculty of Installation Engineering, with over 20 years of teaching and research experience in building installations engineering.

Education:

• Faculty of Installations at UTCB (1992-1997), specializing in IEPA (Installations and Equipment for Atmosphere Protection), bachelor's degree with honors
• Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies, Faculty of International Economic Relations (1993-1998), specializing in International Transactions
• Installation Management specialization at UTCB (1997-1998)
• Doctoral studies (1998-2004) at UTCB and University of Liege, Belgium, earning a CUM LAUDE Doctorate in Civil Engineering with thesis on 'Energy consumption for air conditioning of buildings in the tertiary sector'

Research Interests: Dr. VARTIRES specializes in ventilation and air conditioning systems, indoor air quality, thermal comfort in buildings, renewable energy integration in building installations, and energy certification methodologies. Her research bridges theoretical engineering principles with practical applications for improving energy efficiency in both residential and tertiary sector buildings. She has particular expertise in vehicle HVAC systems as evidenced by her patented invention.

Research Leadership: Dr. VARTIRES coordinates the Research Center for Energy Efficiency in Buildings (CEEC) at UTCB. She has led significant research initiatives including the INSIDE project (2014-2017) on innovative HVAC system design for superior environmental quality in vehicles, and has participated in 4 international and 25 national research projects focused on energy efficiency, thermal rehabilitation, and indoor air quality. She recently contributed to revising the Romanian normative documents I5-2022 for ventilation and air conditioning installations and Mc 001-2022 for building energy performance calculation.

Practical Applications: As a Grade I energy auditor, she has performed energy certifications for major buildings including Sun Plaza shopping center, Sema Parc offices, Delavrancea residential complex, and over 100 residential blocks for thermal rehabilitation studies. Her work directly impacts building standards and energy policies in Romania.
