Amy Wheeler is Director of Experiential Learning and Adjunct Instructor at the University of Illinois Springfield. With over two decades of social work experience, she joined the Academy in 2017 as a curriculum designer and simulation facilitator. Her work focuses on innovative trainings to improve child and family wellbeing. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from James Madison University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Kentucky, specializing in community and family practice with a focus on family violence. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Public Administration at UIS and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Her research interests center on experiential learning methodologies and interventions for enhancing child and family welfare systems. She contributes to the development of simulation-based training programs through the UIS Alliance team.
