Amy Kim

Amy Kim is an Assistant Professor of Art at Hope College, where she teaches digital and analog photography with an emphasis on contemporary practices. Her interdisciplinary work bridges photography, video, performance, and installation, exploring themes such as the archival nature of images and subterranean desires in contexts like the Permian Basin oil fields.

Kim’s research centers on photography’s multifaceted role—its capacity as an archive, medium for performance, historical document, and tool for scientific inquiry. Her recent publications and exhibitions highlight her engagement with global contemporary art, media theory, and environmental critique. Notable awards include the Innovate Artist Grant (2022) and recognition at the Houston Fotofest Biennale (2022).
