Aaron Hegert is an Associate Professor of Photography at the School of Art, Texas Tech University, and a Fulbright Scholar (Paris 2008). He holds an MFA in Photography from Indiana University (2014) and a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute (2007).
His research explores intersections of photography, digital media, and environmental discourse. Key projects include Sun Stroke at Plaza Blanca (2022), which uses algorithmic composites to challenge romanticized landscape perceptions, and Shallow Learning, where AI tools like Google's image search and Photoshop reconstruct visual meaning through machine-human collaboration.
