Amy Blakemore

Amy Blakemore is a Senior Lecturer in the Mental Health Research Group at the University of Manchester's School of Health Sciences. Her work focuses on interventions for physical and mental multimorbidity, particularly in COPD self-management and global healthcare equity. She leads NIHR-funded projects including the 'Burns Rehabilitation' program in low-income countries and a culturally adapted pulmonary rehabilitation initiative for UK South Asian communities. Blakemore holds Chartered Psychologist status (BPS) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Education includes a BA in Psychology (2004), MSc in Advanced Practice in Mental Health (2008), and PhD in COPD psychosocial predictors (2014) from the University of Manchester. Teaching spans undergraduate nursing, postgraduate mental health programs, and clinical psychology courses.

Research expertise includes systematic reviews on healthcare utilization, qualitative studies on patient engagement, and implementation science. Current projects emphasize capacity building in Pakistan through interdisciplinary collaborations. Supervises 3 PhD students and chairs a multidisciplinary research development group.

Awarded Lecturer of the Year 2018, her work aligns with UN SDGs addressing health equity (SDG3) and global partnerships (SDG17). Active in developing innovative interventions for marginalized populations through culturally tailored approaches.
