Dr. Amit Sheth is the Founding Director of the Artificial Intelligence Institute and a Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of South Carolina. He holds joint appointments across multiple colleges and leads groundbreaking research in knowledge-enhanced computing.
Education includes a B.E. (Hons) from BITS Pilani, India, and M.S./Ph.D. from Ohio State University. His research transforms AI through knowledge-infused approaches across healthcare, social good, and industrial applications.
Research interests focus on semantic, cognitive, and perceptual computing with applications in knowledge graphs, NLP, neuro-symbolic AI, and conversational systems.
