Amina Elbendary is an Associate Professor and Chair of Middle East History at the Sheikh Hassan Abbas Sharbatly Department of Arab and Islamic Civilizations, The American University in Cairo (AUC). She specializes in the study of late medieval Egypt and Syria, focusing on urban protest, social and cultural history, and Arabic historiography.
