Amar Gande is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Cox School of Business, Southern Methodist University (SMU), since 2006. He previously taught at Vanderbilt University and holds a PhD in Finance from New York University, an MBA from IIM Calcutta, and a BTech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Madras. His research focuses on financial institutions, corporate finance, and international finance, with publications in top-tier journals like the Journal of Finance and Journal of Financial Economics. He also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of International Business Studies.
Dr. Gande has received prestigious teaching awards, including the Eugene T. Byrne Endowed Faculty Innovation Award (2008-2009) and the James A. Webb Jr. Award (2001, 2003). His work bridges academic research and practical finance, informed by prior experience in Citibank's Corporate Banking and International Trade Finance divisions in India.
His research explores themes such as tax policies' impact on innovation, CEO compensation dynamics in financial firms, and global diversification strategies. Publications span corporate governance, banking systems, and legal-financial interactions, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach to finance.
