Amanda Howell

Amanda Howell is a Senior Lecturer in Screen Studies at Griffith University, Australia. Her research focuses on the intersection of horror cinema and historical trauma, particularly how screen narratives interrogate collective memory, national identity, and social justice. She has contributed to leading journals such as Continuum and The New Review of Film and Television Studies, and co-authored influential works like Monstrous Possibilities: The Female Monster in 21st-Century Screen Horror (2022). As an anthology editor of Haunted Histories and Troubled Pasts (2024), she explores how contemporary horror media reanimate unresolved historical conflicts through spectral and bodily metaphors.
