Amanda Briggs

Amanda Briggs is an Assistant Professor and Clinical Skills & Simulation Lead at the School of Nursing and Healthcare Leadership, part of the Faculty of Health Studies at the University of Bradford. She holds a Registered Nurse (Adult) qualification and is a Nursing and Midwifery Council-registered Teacher. Since 2016, she has focused on enhancing clinical skills education across healthcare programs, emphasizing evidence-based practices and regulatory standards. Her work integrates pedagogies like high-fidelity simulation, technology-enhanced learning, and clinical skills assessment.

Her research interests include dementia care, suicide prevention, and the application of simulation-based education. She co-leads the Sim-Versity project, a cultural competence web hub for healthcare education, and is a PhD candidate exploring simulation in dementia education. Briggs collaborates with the Centre of Applied Dementia Studies and chairs a research and education simulation collaborative.

Briggs has over 20 years of clinical experience in emergency care, including roles as a Nursing Sister and Senior Sister for Education in NHS trusts. She has contributed to projects like the €299,538 'Optimizing patient safety through culturally competent simulation-based education' and led initiatives on acute kidney injury education and suicide prevention training.
