Alwyn LIM

Alwyn LIM is a Full-time Associate Professor of Sociology at Singapore Management University (SMU), holding the Lee Kong Chian Fellowship (2022-2024). His research focuses on globalization's impact on organizations and institutions, particularly corporate responsibility frameworks, capitalism dynamics, and Singapore's political economy. He teaches Global & Transnational Sociology and Economic Sociology.

Qualifications include a PhD in Sociology from the University of Michigan (2012), MA degrees from SUNY (2005) and NUS (2003). His research interests span Global Sociology, Political Economy, and organizational studies with a focus on Singapore's developmental state.

His recent work examines CSR motivations, global governance structures, and transnational corporate practices. Key themes include institutional emergence, lateral decoupling, and global norm diffusion. He has published extensively on CSR frameworks, nonprofit roles, and comparative analyses of corporate responsibility policies.
