Dr. Allison S. Reed is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Washington University in St. Louis, with affiliate appointments in Sociology and the Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity, & Equity. Her research examines how health, disability, and mental difference shape activism among marginalized groups through Black feminist and queer ethics of care frameworks.
Her current book project, Repertoires of Care: Activist Wellbeing and Surviving Social Movements, analyzes survival strategies among US social justice advocates. Reed's scholarly work advances Black feminist disability studies and political sociology, with publications appearing in Mobilization and Social Science & Medicine.
