Jalia L. Joseph

Jalia L. Joseph is an Assistant Professor at James Madison University. Their research focuses on intersections of race/ethnicity, gender, social movements, and feminisms. They investigate how gender and racial dynamics within movements like Black Lives Matter and the Women’s March (2017–2021) influence political engagement among Black marginalized genders (Black MaGes). Their work explores how emotions and collective memory shape Black MaGes' activism.
