Allison Bloom

Allison Bloom is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Moravian University, affiliated with the Department of Sociology & Anthropology. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Anthropology from Rutgers University and a B.A. in Women's Studies and Hispanic Studies from Vassar College.

Her research and teaching focus on gender-based violence, healthcare inequalities, and the intersection of immigration, disability, and aging. She explores how immigrant Latina women in the U.S. integrate evangelical Christianity with social and health services to address domestic violence, advocating for a life-course perspective in care systems.

Dr. Bloom’s recent publications examine trauma-informed domestic violence care, human rights frameworks in Uruguay, and long-term healthcare approaches for aging survivors. She collaborates with social work researchers and practitioners, contributing to interdisciplinary dialogues at conferences like the Society for Applied Anthropology and the American Anthropological Association.
