Allen G. Sens

Allen G. Sens is a Professor of Teaching at the University of British Columbia (UBC), affiliated with the Department of Political Science in the Faculty of Arts. He holds a Ph.D. from Queen's University (1993), an M.A. from UBC (1988), and a B.A. from UBC (1986). His research and teaching focus on international relations, particularly international security, including armed conflict, conflict management, peace operations, nuclear weapons, European security, and Canadian foreign and defence policy.

Dr. Sens has led significant grants, including a SSHRC Partnership Development Grant on knowledge mobilization via radio podcasting and a SSHRC Connections Grant to establish a podcast series highlighting academic voices. He is dedicated to undergraduate education, emphasizing teaching excellence, and does not supervise graduate students.

His awards include the UBC Killam Teaching Prize (2003) and the Canadian Political Science Association Teaching Excellence Prize (2018). His office is located at Buchanan C432.
