Alison Reeves

Alison Reeves is a Principal Lecturer in Theatre, Acting & Performance at the University of Worcester’s School of Arts. She specializes in Applied Theatre and directing, with a focus on educational outreach and health-related initiatives. As Deputy Head of the School of Arts, she leads academic and administrative responsibilities while maintaining active research and teaching roles.

• Education: BA (Hons) Drama and Theatre Arts (University of Birmingham, 1985), PGCE Drama (Birmingham Polytechnic, 1986), MA Drama in Education (University of Central England, 1992).

Her research explores teaching communication and empathy through Applied Theatre, particularly in healthcare contexts. She pioneered international collaborations, such as the Equal Voices festivals linking Birmingham and Delhi TIE companies, and directed award-winning touring programs like It’s Up to You! (HELOA 2014). Recent work includes creating participatory performances for nursing students to enhance empathy and communication skills.

Awards highlight her contributions to higher education pedagogy, including the Senior Fellowship (2016) and HELOA recognition.
