Dr Alison Prutton is a Teaching Fellow in Equine Clinical Practice at the University of Surrey's School of Veterinary Medicine, part of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. She graduated from the University of Liverpool School of Veterinary Science in 2009 and completed a Fellowship in equine medicine at the University of California, Davis. Her career includes clinical work in the UK and the US, with a focus on equine clinical practice and veterinary education. She is a key contributor to advancing educational models in veterinary training, such as the equine nasogastric intubation simulation tool. Her research spans equine pharmacology, surgery, and immunology, with notable work on rabies vaccination efficacy and equine biomechanics.
Dr Prutton’s expertise bridges clinical practice and education, emphasizing student confidence-building through safe, welfare-friendly simulation techniques. Her contributions to equine health include studies on salivary duct obstructions and the impact of hoof studs on limb mechanics.
