Professor Alison Noble CBE FRS FREng is the Technikos Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Oxford's Department of Engineering Science and a Professorial Fellow at St Hilda's College. Her research focuses on AI-driven medical imaging, particularly ultrasound, with global health applications. She leads the Noble Group, exploring machine learning in ultrasound for improved diagnostics and accessibility.
Education: DPhil (Oxford), MA. Awards include the Royal Society Gabor Medal (2019), ERC Advanced Grant (2016), and UKRI Turing AI Fellowship (2023). She has held leadership roles such as President of the MICCAI Society and Vice President of the Royal Society. Her work bridges academia and industry, including co-founding Intelligent Ultrasound Ltd.
Research interests include fetal ultrasound analysis, AI-assisted diagnostics, and federated learning for healthcare. Current projects include the PULSE initiative and the PRECISE cohort study in Africa. She advises numerous students and collaborates internationally to advance biomedical engineering and global health equity.
