Alison M. McCormick

Alison M. McCormick is a Lecturer in the Department of Learning and Teaching at California Lutheran University, where she also serves as Director of the California Reading and Literature Project. She has a 32-year career in Pre K-8 public education across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, transitioning from a K-5 classroom teacher to a site reading specialist, resource teacher, and finally school principal. Her expertise includes bilingual education and dual language program implementation.

Research interests center on early childhood through secondary education practices, with particular emphasis on language acquisition and literacy development. During her career, she oversaw the implementation of a school-wide 50/50 dual language program at Mar Vista Elementary School and concluded her Pre K-8 education career as principal of Ocean View Junior High School.
