Alison Forbes

Alison Forbes is a Lecturer in Sport Sociology at the University of Wolverhampton, affiliated with the Faculty of Education, Health & Wellbeing. Her expertise lies in equality, diversity, discrimination, and research on football with a focus on women's roles.

Her research explores gender and ethnicity dynamics in sports, particularly addressing challenges in football culture and policies affecting mixed participation. She has collaborated with organizations like Sporting Equals and the Leicestershire and Rutland County Football Association on monitoring and disciplinary projects related to discrimination.

Alison’s publications analyze systemic barriers in football, including gender-based officiating stereotypes and regulatory frameworks. She holds an MA in Sport, Body and Society from Cardiff Metropolitan University and a BA from the University of Wolverhampton, and has previously worked as a Research Assistant and Visiting Lecturer.
