Alison Astles

Alison Astles is the Subject Leader in Pharmacy at the University of Huddersfield, affiliated with the School of Applied Sciences and the Pharmaceutical Policy and Practice Research Centre. She has held academic roles including Senior Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire and Principal Lecturer at Wolverhampton University. Her expertise spans pharmacy professionalism, locum community pharmacy, and pedagogy.

Alison’s research focuses on professional identity among locum pharmacists, interprofessional education, and pedagogical innovation. Her work addresses risk dynamics in community pharmacy and contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals through pharmaceutical policy. Recent publications highlight interdisciplinary collaboration in mental health medication optimization.

She has supervised pharmacy education initiatives and served as a local tutor for the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (University of Manchester) for 17 years. Alison is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
