Alison Ekins

Alison Ekins is a Part-Time Lecturer in the Directorate of Special Educational Needs and Inclusion, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Education at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU). She has worked at CCCU for the last ten years, dedicating one day per week to her role.

• Developed the National Award for SEN Coordination program in 2009 and continues to teach on it
• Teaches other Master's programs related to SEN and Inclusion
• Doctoral supervisor for Ed D and PhD students

Her research focuses on Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Inclusive Education, with an emphasis on educational leadership, policy, and teacher training. Her work bridges academic theory with practical applications in SEN coordination and disability studies.

Externally, Alison serves as Head of the Foundation Learning Department in a secondary school and as Director of SEN in an Academy Trust, extending her impact beyond academia into institutional educational frameworks.
