About
Alice Ming Wai Jim is Professor of Contemporary Art History at Concordia University and Concordia University Research Chair in Critical Curatorial Studies and Decolonizing Art Institutions (Tier 1). As Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Asian Diasporic Visual Culture and the Americas, she advances scholarship on global art histories and ethnocultural representation.
Her research examines contemporary Asian art, diaspora studies, and decolonial approaches to curatorial practice. Recent projects explore ethnic futurisms in visual culture and develop critical frameworks for reimagining art institutions. Dr. Jim's publications analyze how artists negotiate racialized identities through new media, performance, and digital platforms.
Current work investigates pandemic-era artistic responses to anti-Asian racism and develops models for African Canadian art historical scholarship. As curator and scholar, she addresses representation politics in exhibitions and museum studies, advocating for structural change in cultural institutions through projects like 'Maraya: Research-creation, inter-reference and the worlding of Asian cities'.
