Alice Gerlach

Alice Gerlach is a part-time lecturer (Lehrbeauftragte) at the Department of Law, University of Tübingen, with expertise in social law and health insurance law. She concurrently serves as a judge at the State Social Court of Baden-Württemberg, adjudicating cases related to statutory health insurance and contract physician law.

• Education: Studium der Rechtswissenschaften at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen (1996–2000), First and Second State Examinations, and a PhD in Law (2005) titled "Geltungsdauer von Planfeststellungsbeschlüssen" (validity period of planning approval decisions).

Her research focuses on the intersection of legal frameworks and healthcare economics, particularly cost-efficiency audits, structural inspections of hospitals, and compliance with statutory insurance regulations. She has contributed commentary to legal journals (NZS) and co-authored the textbook Krankenhausrecht (Hospital Law, 2014, 2018).

Recent publications analyze judicial precedents on medical billing adjustments, insurance coverage disputes, and regulatory compliance. Her work bridges practical adjudication with academic legal analysis.

Judicial roles include membership in the 5th Senate of the Landessozialgericht Baden-Württemberg since 2020, prior appointments as judge at the Social Court Stuttgart (2007–2012), and a scientific assistant role at the Federal Constitutional Court (2014–2016).
