Dr Ali Monzer is a Teaching Fellow in Civil Engineering at the University of Birmingham, specializing in Geotechnical Engineering. He holds a PhD (2023) and MSc (2018) from the University of Birmingham, and a BSc in Petroleum Geoscience from the American University of Beirut (2016). His research focuses on advanced numerical modeling (FEM/MPM) for soil-fluid interactions, sustainable infrastructure using recycled materials, and geotechnical asset management. As Geotechnical Engineering Labs Coordinator, he supports teaching innovation and lab resources.
His research interests include soil-structure interaction, innovative construction materials, and geotechnical asset management. He contributed to the ERDF-funded ARLI project on low-impact raw materials. Professional affiliations include the Institute of Civil Engineers and the British Geotechnical Association.
