Alfredo Paloyo is an Associate Professor and Discipline Leader (Department Chair) of Economics at the University of Wollongong, Australia. He holds affiliations with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course, IZA Institute of Labor Economics, RWI Leibniz Institute, and Tax and Transfer Policy Institute. His work focuses on empirical analysis of human capital, labor markets, health economics, and education policy. He previously worked at RWI Leibniz Institute in Germany and taught at Ruhr University Bochum, University of Paderborn, University of the Philippines, and De La Salle University.

Current PhD supervision topics include earnings inequality, educational pairings in Vietnam, and leadership's impact on wellbeing.
He is actively involved in academic service, including organizing the Australian Gender Economics Workshop (2025) and hosting policy lectures on inequality. His research bridges theory and practice, influencing public policy in areas like healthcare access and labor market reform.
