Alfredo Gisholt

Alfredo Gisholt is an Associate Professor at the Rhode Island School of Design specializing in visual arts. His practice spans painting, drawing, collage, and printmaking with particular focus on small-scale works on paper.

His educational background includes:

• Training at Academia de San Carlos (Mexico City)
• BFA from Florida International University
• MFA from Boston University

Gisholt's research explores the intersection of materiality and perception through intimate compositions. His work often features layered textures and subtle color variations in gouache and mixed media, with recent projects drawing inspiration from Maine landscapes and studio observations. The artist maintains an active exhibition schedule while integrating professional practice with academic teaching.

He has established significant presence through solo exhibitions at CUE Foundation (NYC), Cristobal Contemporary (Mexico City), and University of Maine Museum of Art, alongside group shows at Park Place Gallery and Museo de Arte Popular. His international reach is demonstrated through features in Hyperallergic, The Brooklyn Rail, and Painter's Table.
