Alexis Hart

Alexis Hart is the Thomas M. and Sarah Stewart St. Clair Professor of English and Director of Writing at Allegheny College. With a B.A. from the University of Rochester and Ph.D. from the University of Georgia, Hart specializes in civic rhetoric, computers and writing, undergraduate research, and veteran studies.

Research interests focus on:

• Military-to-academic transitions for veterans
• Writing center pedagogy and learning commons development
• Undergraduate research dissemination and journal management
• Historical representations in military writing

Publications primarily explore writing pedagogy innovations and veteran studies applications. Recent works examine spatial aspects of writing centers (2023), multisensory mapping of writing knowledge (2022), and veteran transition programs.
