Alexis Teagarden

Alexis Teagarden is an Associate Professor and Writing Program Administrator in the Department of English & Communication at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She directs the First-Year English program and teaches courses in advanced rhetoric and writing workshops.

• Education: PhD in Rhetoric (2014, Carnegie Mellon University), MA in Teaching (Secondary English) (2008, Johns Hopkins University), BA (2005, Georgetown University)

Her research explores intersections of public policy, education reform, and writing pedagogy, with a focus on charter schools and the role of intellectual risk in writing classrooms. She also investigates faculty development and student evaluations of teaching.
