Alexis Drogoul

Alexis Drogoul is a Senior Researcher at the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD), serving as its representative in Vietnam and the Philippines since 2017. He holds a PhD from the University of Paris 6 (1993) and has held academic roles including Associate Professor (1995–2000) and Full Professor (2000–2004) before joining IRD.

His research focuses on agent-based simulation of complex socio-ecological systems, notably through the GAMA platform development. Key interests include environmental decision-support systems, climate change adaptation strategies in urban areas, and disaster risk reduction. His work emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration and stakeholder engagement in model design for sustainability science.

Recent contributions include keynote speeches on integrating dynamic socio-ecosystem models to address climate change impacts in developing regions like the Mekong Delta. He leads international projects enhancing research capacity in Vietnam through partnerships with institutions such as MSI-IFI, DREAM-CTU, and ICTLab-USTH.
