Alexandre Skiba

Alexandre Skiba is an Associate Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Economics and Finance at the University of Wyoming’s College of Business. His research focuses on International Economics, Development Economics, and Industrial Organization, with notable contributions to understanding trade patterns, transportation costs, and quality variations across markets. He holds a PhD from Purdue University (2003) alongside advanced degrees from Purdue and Rivne State Technical University.

Skiba’s work bridges theoretical and empirical analyses of trade policies, including anti-dumping duties and shipping market dynamics. His research has been published in top journals like the Journal of Political Economy and Journal of Development Economics. He has received multiple awards, including the 2015 Outstanding Junior Teaching Award and the Tom and Judy Crocker Junior Faculty Research Award (2014).

His teaching spans global business environments, econometrics, and international trade at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Skiba has also engaged in extensive outreach activities in Eastern Europe and Moldova, emphasizing economic education reforms.
