Alexandre Claude is a Research Fellow in the Department of History at the European University Institute (EUI). His research focuses on the intersections of art, science, and sensibility in the early modern period (1580-1650), with a particular emphasis on material culture and transnational history. Supervised by Lauren Kassell and Giorgio Riello, his doctoral thesis, Reading Stones. Art, Science and Sensibility in the Early Modern Period (1580-1650), explores themes such as the history of knowledge, cultural exchanges, and the materiality of objects.
His research interests include the early modern history of trade, environmental history, and visual history. He contributes to the Visual and Material History Working Group at the EUI, reflecting his commitment to interdisciplinary approaches to historical inquiry.
