Dr. Alexander Monea is an Associate Professor at George Mason University, jointly appointed in the English Department and Cultural Studies Program within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. His research examines the cultural impacts of digital media, focusing on algorithmic bias, heteronormative content moderation, and the intersection of technology with identity politics. He is the author of *The Digital Closet: How the Internet Became Straight* (MIT Press, 2022), which critiques how LGBTQ+ content is marginalized online through opaque algorithms and censorship mechanisms.
Education: PhD in Communication, Rhetoric, & Digital Media (North Carolina State University, 2016); MA in Communication (Bowling Green State University, 2012); BA in English (Walsh University, 2010).
