Dr. Alexander M. Bruce is a Visiting Professor of English and Associate Dean for Undergraduate Academic Affairs at The University of the South. A Sewanee alumnus (B.A. 1989), he holds advanced degrees from The University of Georgia and returned to Sewanee in 2008. His administrative leadership spans student affairs and academic governance.
Research interests include:
- Medieval literature and Old/Middle English philology
- Folklore studies and Arthurian legend
- J.R.R. Tolkien's literary works
- Historical linguistics and pedagogy
