Alexander H. Weiss is a Distinguished Professor of Physics and Chair of the Department of Physics at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). He holds a BS in Mathematics from the City College of New York (1976) and a PhD in Physics from Brandeis University (1983). His postdoctoral research at Harvard University focused on x-ray scattering at liquid-gas interfaces.
Professor Weiss is renowned for pioneering advancements in surface physics, notably inventing Positron Annihilation Induced Auger Electron Spectroscopy (PAES) and co-inventing Auger-Auger coincidence spectroscopy. His research explores positron beam-based spectroscopies to study 2D materials, porous materials, and surface dynamics. Current projects include quantum computing using polarized positrons and antimatter containment technologies.
