Alexander Forte

Alexander Forte is an Assistant Professor of Classics at New York University, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences and part of the A&S Faculty Cluster in Comparative Antiquities. His research bridges literary, linguistic, and cognitive methodologies to analyze ancient textual traditions.

• Primary Focus: Archaic Greek poetry, particularly the Homeric epics.
• Theoretical Frameworks: Comparative analysis (Greco-Ugaritic, Greek-Indian), cognitive theories of metaphor, and poetics of repetition.
• Current Project: Monograph Homeric Metaphor and Cognitive Poetics under contract with Oxford University Press's Cognitive Classics series.
