Alexa Bankert

Alexa Bankert serves as Associate Professor of Political Science and Undergraduate Program Coordinator at the University of Georgia's School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) since 2024, affiliated with the Department of Political Science.

Education:

• B.A. in Political Science, Freie Universität Berlin and University of Pennsylvania (2011)
• Ph.D. in Political Science, Stony Brook University (2016)

Research Focus: Dr. Bankert specializes in political psychology and experimental methodology, investigating the development, measurement, and political consequences of partisan and social identities across two-party and multi-party systems. Her work examines how identities shape political attitudes, values, and behavior through rigorous experimental design.

Professional Engagement: As Undergraduate Program Coordinator, she oversees curriculum and student advising.
