Alex Nevins

Alex Nevins is a Tutor at the School of Social and Political Science within the University of Edinburgh. They are currently pursuing a PhD in Law, focusing on asexuality, legal recognition, and justice. Their academic journey includes an LLB (Hons) from the University of Liverpool and an International Human Rights Law LLM from the University of Leeds.

Their research explores the intersection of asexual-spectrum identities, queer and feminist legal theory, and equality law, with a focus on criminal law and non-sexual citizenship. They convene the Criminal Law Discussion Group and teach the course Understanding Gender in the Contemporary World (SSPS08012).

Alex has presented their work on asexuality and law at multiple international conferences, including the American Association of Geographers Annual Meeting (2025) and the Socio Legal Studies Association Annual Conference (2025). Their recent article, Rethinking Compulsory Sexuality, was published in 2025.
