Dr. Amanda Spalding is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Leeds, joining in July 2023. Previously, she held academic positions at the University of Sheffield, Canterbury Christ Church University, and SOAS. She is the Deputy Editor of the Journal of Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Law. Her expertise spans Immigration Law, Human Rights Law, Criminal Law, EU Law, and Family Law, with a focus on gender-based violence and socio-legal methodologies.

She also explores gender-based violence, including sexual and domestic violence, and has written on the 'rough sex' defence in rape trials. Her research employs both doctrinal and socio-legal methods to analyze legal coherence in social contexts.
Teaching: She teaches Criminal Law, European Union Law, Family Law, and Gender and the Law. She is affiliated with the Centre for Law and Social Justice and supervises postgraduate research in relevant areas.
