Alessandra Amin (she/her) is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Alexander Grass Humanities Institute, part of the Global South Humanities Initiative at Johns Hopkins University. She holds a PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles (2022). Her research focuses on Palestinian painting and graphic arts from the mid-20th century, examining how artists engage with Palestinian cultural identity through aesthetic and philosophical frameworks, particularly through gendered perspectives.
Previously, she held postdoctoral roles at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wolf Humanities Center and Columbia University’s Center for Palestine Studies. At Johns Hopkins, she collaborates with Dr. Aamir Mufti to develop interdisciplinary humanities programs. Her work bridges art history, cultural studies, and critical theory, addressing themes of exile, nationalism, and visual representation in the Global South.
