Aleksandra Nowakowska

Aleksandra Nowakowska is a university professor and Head of the Department of Regional Economy and Environment at the Faculty of Economics and Sociology, University of Lodz.

Education:

• April 1994: Master of Science in Economics
• December 1998: Doctor of Social Sciences
• June 2012: Habilitation

Professor Nowakowska's research focuses on local and regional development, territorial approaches to economic development, development policy (including place-based policy), just regional transformation, the regional dimension of innovation processes, urban revitalization processes, strategic planning of city and regional development, and monitoring and evaluation. Her work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications in regional policy and planning.

Throughout her career, Professor Nowakowska has implemented over 30 research projects, including 4 EU Framework Programme projects and 12 grants from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. She has participated in international internships and scholarships in Paris, Montpellier, Stockholm, Novosibirsk, and Ternopil, and has lectured at foreign universities.

• Author of over 120 articles and book chapters
• Scientific editor of 14 collective scientific publications
• Author of numerous development strategies, marketing concepts, revitalization programs, and integrated plans
• Author of expert opinions and studies for the Ministry of Regional Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, and Polish Agency for Enterprise Development

Professor Nowakowska serves as an expert in application projects implemented with local government authorities and public institutions, and works as a trainer and instructor in her field of expertise.
