Dr. Alejandro Postigo is a Senior Lecturer in Musical Theatre at the London College of Music, University of West London. He is an intercultural theatre artist and researcher, known for his work on Spanish copla, queer identity, and post-Brexit cultural dynamics in musical theatre.
- PhD from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama on ‘Intercultural Adaptation of Copla’.
- Founded the HisPanic Breakdown collective, focusing on cultural/sexual identity through English-Spanish collaborations.
Research Interests span interculturalism, copla revival, migrant communities, and Brexit’s impact on theatre. His 2024 publications explore colonial echoes in musicals, queer narratives, and historical bridging. Recent conference papers (2023–2024) address post-Brexit European theatre, cultural elasticity, and Malinche’s reinterpretation.
He teaches the MA Acting and Theatre Making and contributes to BA Musical Theatre modules. Collaborations include the Royal Ballet, Arcola Alaturka, and international festivals in Manila, Barcelona, and New York.
