Alec (Alexandru) Balasescu is an Associate Professor at the School of Leadership Studies, Royal Roads University. An anthropologist by training, he has held academic and administrative roles across Romania, Turkey, Canada, France, and Bahrain, including teaching positions at UC Irvine, Simon Fraser University, and the American University in Paris. His work bridges anthropology, technology, and cultural studies.

His scholarly contributions include research grants from the Otto Mauer Foundation, BMUKK Austria, and the British Library’s Endangered Archive Programme (2005). He has also received fellowships from the Wenner Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research.
