Dr. Bass specializes in the history and theology of the early church in North Africa, particularly the works of Tertullian, Cyprian, and Augustine. His teaching portfolio includes courses on scripture, early Christianity, social justice, green discipleship, technological ethics, death and suffering, and spiritual formation. He emphasizes intersections between theological traditions and contemporary ethical challenges.
Dr. Bass and his wife Candace co-founded The Lotus House, an inner-city ministry at the North City Church of Christ in St. Louis, and he collaborates with the Nurturing Communities Network, a national Christian community association.
