Ross McCullough serves as Associate Director of the Honors Program and Associate Professor of Theology at George Fox University, having joined as assistant professor in 2018 and promoted in 2023.
His educational qualifications include:
- PhD in Religious Studies (Theology and Philosophy of Religion) from Yale University
- MTS in History of Christianity from the University of Notre Dame
- BA in History and Philosophy from Swarthmore College
Dr. McCullough's research centers on theological investigations including Eschatology, Creation, The Eucharist, Late Scholasticism, Doctrine of Hell, Hermeneutics of Scripture, and Liberation Theology. His seminal 2022 monograph Freedom and Sin: Evil in a World Created by God reconciles divine causality with non-responsibility for sin, while his academic publications explore hell theology, Eucharistic doctrine, biblical interpretation, and liberation frameworks. He also contributes popular theological commentary to First Things, Commonweal, and America Magazine.
Beyond academia, Dr. McCullough actively participates in St. Peter parish in Newberg through pastoral council service and RCIA leadership, residing nearby with his wife and four children.
