Alan Thompson

Dr. Alan Thompson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM), where he has been since 2000. His expertise spans law enforcement operations, policy, and practice, with a focus on legal and practical issues in law enforcement, courts, and corrections. He holds a PhD from Sam Houston State University (2000), an MS from Texas State University (1993), and a BS from Texas State University (1991).

Dr. Thompson has served in key roles within the university, including as Chapter President of the American Association of University Professors and NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR). His scholarly contributions include multiple books and articles in criminal justice.
