Alan MacPherson

Alan MacPherson is a Teaching Fellow at the School of Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture, University of Aberdeen, with a focus on Gaelic Studies and related disciplines. He is actively involved in academic and cultural initiatives across Scotland.

His research interests include Scottish Gaelic studies, folklore, ethnology, Celtic and Anglo-Saxon studies, and the environmental humanities. These areas are reflected in his academic affiliations and external engagements.

Alan is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, affirming his commitment to teaching excellence. He is also a member of the Edinburgh Environmental Humanities Network and serves on the Board of Directors for Deveron Projects, an arts organization based in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, indicating strong community and interdisciplinary engagement.

He contributes to several research centers, including the Centre for Celtic & Anglo-Saxon Studies and the Elphinstone Institute, focusing on ethnology and folklore. His work bridges academic scholarship with public and artistic outreach, particularly in the North East of Scotland.
